Best detergent to use on cloth diapers?

Anyone have any experiences to share with good/bad detergents? I've used Bio-vert on my own clothes and was thinking of getting the unscented one for my diapers. But one of my friends swears by Rockin Green. What's everyone else using out there?

We have hard water, and the best that I have found is powdered Tide. I know it's not an eco-friendly choice, but I don't have stinky diapers, and I don't have to use bleach with every load like I did with other detergents.

Hi Erika, Thanks for the message. I've read the laundry disclaimer, but was just curious as to what other people have experienced. My Lil Bean isn't due until December, so I've still got lots of time. I think I will try the Rockin Green and see how that works for me, and if any stink issues arise, I will definitely be making a switch to the Kind detergent. It's just that Kind isn't readily available for me. In fact, I ordered it from Well.ca, and then Canada Post failed to deliver it! So now I'm in limbo waiting for a package that may never arrive. =( I'm just really interested in keeping to an 'eco' detergent. Greenworks didn't work for me last time I tried it, so really Kind will be my only option! Here's to hoping Rockin Green works out. *crosses fingers* mari

I used Rockin' Green and had a good experience. At the moment, we're using Nature Clean (which is at our local loblaws) and it's doing really well at keeping the diapers clean. I used Kind, and found it left soap in my diapers (someone else on the forum noted the same issue), but I know ME thinks the world of Kind, so I may try it again at some point. But for now, I like Nature Clean. It's eco, readily available and doesn't have anything it shouldn't in it (at least not that I can tell!). Good luck.

I use Nature Clean too. And surprising what a little vinegar and more soap can do! My MEOS didn't seem to stink but all the plastic stuff (wetbag, covers, Uno, Duo) were stinky. I added vinegar and more soap and the stinkies were gone. YAY!!! More soap from now on especially when those items are in the wash!

When I was washing my cloth diapers (son is now 7) I used simple green and washing soda. I think it worked great I never had any problems with stink or anything.

I was a Tide user but switched due to concern about the ingredients. Now I use the unscented Greenworks and Amaze laundry booster (by Sunlight). Just Greenworks by itself wasn't enough, but the two together do as good of a job as Tide. I use Nature Clean on my clothes, but found I eventually got stinkies with it (even with Amaze added) when washing diapers. I've been curious about Biovert, but I tried a few other natural detergents (Country Save, Kind, Dapple, EcoMax, and soap nuts) and was not very impressed with them. I also tried the Laundry Tarts on just my clothes and didn't find it did a great job either. Until recently I had moderately hard water, and the GW and Amaze combo worked well. Amaze does have enzymes though, so if your child is sensitive to enzymes, that could be an issue.

I have always used Ruby Moon and Mountain Green As this two has given me full satisfaction and I can't believe on others in case of diapers.

Tide all the way! My diapers (and clothes) are super clean and doing the job they are supposed to! What more can you ask for?
