Air Flow vs Rikki Covers for newborns/infants Saturday, August 18, 2012 8:40 PM (permalink)
I am trying to get my stash together for my new baby due in December. I have a mix of small Sandy's and OS. I am not getting newborns since all my kids were 8.5 to 9.5 pounds at birth. I really like the Air Flow covers over the OS for my 4 yr old, special needs son, but I'm not sure what is better for a real little one. I didn't start using cloth until last year with him. In your experience, what works better for a little one?

Thanks

I think that if you like the AFs for an older kid, you're going to like them for a newborn.  I had a mix of Rikkis and AFs, and just found the Rikkis a little more fiddly to make sure everything was tucked into.  The AFs are more generously cut, and I just knew which snaps to use.  I also found that if the velcro wasn't attached perfectly, it would cause some chafing on my blubbery baby (probably would not have been an issue with scrawny newborn #2, but by then I'd sold off the Rikkis!).  Both perform well, of course, but AFs get my vote for all ages.

BTW, I used both the OS and S Sandys from 6.5 lbs on aforementioned scrawny DS#2, and they performed great.

I have no preference for either.  My DH preferred velcro.  Now that I'm looking at my medium covers, both work fine and the edging is fine but the velcro stitching is pulling away from use and I'm no handy mama at sewing!
