Duo design versus traditional one size

I am planning to buy a set of cloth diapers for my newborn baby, thinking whether the traditional one size or the new design Duo will be better. There are a few questions that would like to learn from u: 1) Is the Duo cotton has similar absorbant as the traditional one size ? 2) Will the Duo cotton with one size liner less bulky than the traditional one size design ? 3) Any additional insert design for night ? 4) Will the Duo cotton not so hot for baby in hot summer in california area compare to the traditional one size ? 5) Is the cotton and staydry comparable ? 6) Any package deal for this new Duo ? I am planning to buy one set of 12 pcs of inner and 7 cover ? Appreciate your advise.

I am planning to buy one set of 12 pcs of inner and 7 cover ? Appreciate your advise. 1) The OneSize Duo cotton insert has a very similar absorbency to the OneSize fitted diaper. 2) The amount of bulkiness will be comparable to the OneSize fitted diaper (same amount of absorbency = same amount of fabric). The xs/sm cotton insert would be less bulky (it is cut to fit into the small Duo cover and gathers together to reduce to fit the xs duo cover). The OneSize duo insert is cut to fit the Lg. Duo cover so it has a lot of reducing to do to fit down to the small Duo cover but it will certainly do the job. 3) Yes, you may add any of our absorbent liners to boost the absorbency for night time use or when traveling. These may not be required until your child is a little older and sleeping for longer periods of time. 4) It will be the same. Both diapers are made of cotton. Cotton has a cooling effect and is a great choice in a warm climate. 5) not sure of the question..comparable in absorbency, yes. Drying time will be faster with the Stay Dry. The cotton will feel wet against your baby's skin. The StayDry will feel dry to the touch like a disposable diaper. 6) Yes. I believe package deals are being put together today. Happy to help. Hi Erika, so happy to hear more from you on the Wizard Duo, it is exciting . As I am new to cloth diapers, to make it easier for me to handle and avoid leakage, which design will u recommend me to start with, Wizard Duo or traditional one size ? I have some more question on size. I will probably start using ME cloth diaper after first 2 months of birth of my baby, by the time will be 10lbs, can i go straight to Duo one size inner and Medium size cover ? can I skip the small size cover ? or do you think the small size is still necessary until he grow up to 4 or 5 months. As I have brand new on this, not quite sure on the actual size combination. Do I need to buy the paper separation sheet to simplify cleaning process ? Will it help ? Awaiting for your reply.

If I can put in my two cents' worth, I've found that sizing is a tricky issue to advise other people on because babies are shaped so differently and gain weight differently. It's really hard to know how big your baby will actually be at two months, and whether he or she will have chubby legs or thin legs, which can make a big difference in picking sizes. That being said, If I had to choose, I would advise trying a medium cover rather than a small, since even if the cover is too big at the time, you will use it eventually and can always order a few smalls to tide you over. I don't have any experience with the Wizard, but I love the os and the sandy's. I find that both contain extremely well so I can reuse the covers many times before washing them.

Thanks for sharing your valuable experience. I may try a set of medium cover first and decide later if additional small is required. I like the touch of one size and at the same time the new wizard is exciting to try...

I found it really hard to make a decision too, and ended up with a dozen one size and a dozen sandy's for that reason -- and love them both. :)

As I have brand new on this, not quite sure on the actual size combination. Do I need to buy the paper separation sheet to simplify cleaning process ? Will it help ? Awaiting for your reply. You can never go wrong with the OneSize and AirFlow or Rikki Wraps. However wonderful this system is, it is a two step system in which the diaper has to be put on and fastened and then the cover put on and fastened. As long as your baby lies still it works great. Once your baby is a little older and doesn't want to lie still the two step system can be trying. This is where the Wizard Duo helps bridge a gap. Otherwise very similar to the OneSize/AirFlow system, to the effect that the covers come in sizes and you can choose a one size insert for the Duo, the big difference is that you can pre-prepare (snap) duo inserts into as many duo covers as you have while baby is, say, sleeping. Once pre-prepared it is as simple to put on your baby as an Uno. Only one set of snaps to do up. Otherwise the systems- OneSize/AirFlow or Duo- neither will leak. Both have outstanding performance but the Duo will be more convenient. You can go straight to the OneSize absorbent inner for your 2 month old baby, but a med. Duo cover will not likely fit until your baby is around 20 lbs. I think the small starts at about 10 lbs. You will need to have at least three Duo covers to take advantage of the benefit of pre-preparing so you can enjoy the convenience of the Duo system. The paper separation sheet (or bio liners) are a luxury. They aid in diaper clean up and help prevent stains from setting. Ours are of a heavier construction and wider width so that they don't scrunch together while baby moves. Very nice to have but not required. Hope this helps in making your decision. Erika Froese

Thanks for your sharing, finally got the difference between two. I would like to get a try to the wizard duo, that seems great for energetic baby. A small size Duo cover seems more suitable for the time being. I am interest in Duo wizard 12 one size inner, 3 small and 4 medium cover, will a package price for this be available this week for ordering. If not, can I send separate email to check out how to arrange ? Thanks !! Really exciting to try this wizard line.

JadeB I just checked the web site and the packages are not listed yet. Our programer is busy with getting the Wizard EasyStuff ready for Thursday's release. I did see them, though so I know they are available. Call the office and they'll look after you.

Hi Erika, Thanks for your earlier reply. I called your office just now and they replied there is no package price onhand yet. Can you pls help me to check if there is any price setup for following combinations and offer me a quote: 1) Wizard Duo absorbent fitted insert one size unbl cotton x 10pcs 2) Wizard Duo absorbent fitted insert one size nightime stay dry x 2pcs 3) Duo Cover small x 3pcs (ocean blue/savanna/blue) 4) Duo Cover medium x 3pcs (ocean blue/savanna/orange) 5) Is the wizard booster used for Duo ? If so, any size recommendations if I would like to order 6pcs for usage from 3 mons to 1 1/2 yrs old ? It will be great if u can help out in this case, I can then proceed to order in the web. Thanks again.

Thanks again. Packages are already put together. I guess the office hasn't received the details yet. The packages will be very similar to our fitted diaper packages. ie 6 diapers, 12 diapers etc and will reflect the same sort of savings. The cart system does not have the ability to pick and choose. You will find the closest Wizard Duo package to what you want is the 12 absorbent insert pack. We are just beginning our Victoria Day long weekend here and the office will be closed until Tuesday. If you do not find the packages listed on line next week feel free to contact me and I will move things along for you. Erika

Thanks for posting this! I currently use the one size and as I have two kids now in cloth I love it so I don't have to check sizes. I'm looking at options as I think I need a few more diapers and I like the duo and uno but the price is holding me back. I"m looking forward to seeing what the packages will be. Not sure how many more I need but i'm thinking 4-6. I will wait on ordering or buying used to check them out. Crystal

In this case, I cant wait any longer, I'll order in loose first with the promotion offer. Before that, need your help to advise if the wizard booster is designed mainly for wizard line ? If I am going to buy 3 small and 3 medium size Duo cover for my baby 2 mons to 1 year old, shall I get 3 small size terry and 3 large size terry wizard booster, or 6 small size wizard booster ? Thanks for your help again.

JadeB, The small insert will still fit the medium cover, it just will lack the extra absorbency you may need for a one year old. At that time, you may choose to purchase larger inserts. The larger the insert the more absorbency you will achieve. -SarahF
