About to outgrow Sandy's Smalls
Tuesday, May 01, 2012 5:52 PM

We've used Sandy's Smalls and Air Flow covers on our DS since birth and we've loved them. He will be turning 2 years old in a few months, and he's about 25 pounds. He is just starting to outgrow the leg snaps on the Sandy's Smalls, but still plenty of room in the waist. He isn't close to potty training yet. I've seen that there are new diapers out now. Any advice of which ones we should go for? Thank you

I love my large Sandys, but it is a matter of personal preference. If you like your small Sandys, then I would be tempted to try the larges with AF covers. You could also try ordering one or two of each of the new diapers and decide which one you like best.

Tjhbahr's advise is good and logical. There will be no surprises with the Lg. Sandys/AirFlow tried and true system. You might want to assess your needs as you look ahead. Here is a little story: My cousin currently finds herself in a bit of a dilemma. As a professional she is returning to work shortly. Just under a year ago she decided that she wanted to cloth diaper her newborn girl in Motherease OneSize. It was tried and true. It came recommend and that was the system she set her sights on. I showed her the then new Wizard Duo diapering system as a slimmer fitting, more current alternative. She wrinkled her nose and didn't see the advantage. Her daycare provider is happy to use cloth but would, understandbly, prefer some sort of an all in one. Given that she has already invested in her system and given that she hasn't worked in a year, this is a bit of a swallow. Had she invested in the Duo system she would now just have to buy a few more covers. She could unsnap the used Inserts after her daughter has retired for the night (hopefully) and snap in fresh Inserts and deliver fresh Duo "all in ones" to her day care provider the next day, together with her daughter. Ahhh had she only listened:). Erika Froese

Wow, I wish! The lady I bought my Small Sandys from said she used them on her DD until 18 months but I could not snap the legs and waist around DD at only 3 months! Erika, that's a good point about daycare and all-in-ones and investing in Duos.

I agree it is all about personal preference. . . I LOVED small sandy's on my kids but prefer the OS as they grew. Not sure why, I just don't like the large sandy's as well. I have some Duo's as well but I still find myself reaching for the OS. Lucky your 2 year old still fits in the smalls. . . my kids all outgrew them by 6 months (though I do use the small sandy's in my Duo's - they 1/2 snap into the Duo shell and then you don't have to buy as many inserts is you choose to go Duo.)
