I'm a new mommy of a 2-1/2 month old baby girl. We'd gotten a mix'n match package of 12 SM Sandys and 12 OS with 6 Airflow covers and 6 liners each. Laura was a smallish baby at birth 6lbs- 12oz. There was no way that either of these diapers would fit her until very recently--she's BFed and very long and petite. We used disp. exclusively, and will still use them occasionally for public trips out and visits to friends'.
Now that Laura's gained a little more, I decided to try out our stash. I'm trying to use the Sandys more since they are "sized" and won't get as much use out of them. I must say that they are wonderful. They fit better than the OS, but I expected that. She doesn't seem at all bothered all the extra bulkiness, but she sure looks like a Humpty Dumpty with her big round tush!
I'm using a wet pail method with a little borax until wash day which probably works out to be 2-3 days in pail. There is no smell from the pail at all. The fit on the diapers is really good and they are very easy to use overall. I'm thrilled with the AF covers also--they never feel wet inside! I've gotten spoiled with disps.(and lazy with not having to change her as often) but in the long run I think the ME's are a very wise choice and investment for baby and the environment.
For anyone who is having a tough time in making the decision to "go cloth", try it and the quality of Mother-Ease will speak for itself. I'm thrilled with the customer service also--Judith was terrific in answering all my questions!
