(Long, Sorry) How Do You Handle Public Outings With Cloth Diapers??

Hi--I posted a message a few days ago about our satisfaction with Mother-Ease. We are VERY new to the whole system--only a couple of weeks. My DD wears Sandys most days size SM with the MED AF cover, plus we also have the OS diapers for when she outgrows the Sandys. I've previously been exclusively using disps. because Laura was a little small for either of the M-E diapers to really fit well, but she seems to have now filled out enough (she's approx. 13 lbs. and just turned 3 months old).

What I've done in the past few days if we've gone out for an extended period of time--like 4-5 hours, I've always packed a few disps. in the diaper bag to change her while I'm out. I'd probably still like to continue to do this, BUT all I have here at home is the remainder of her Swaddlers Size 1 which still fit fine for now.

My dilemma lies in that I'd never use enough of a full pack of disps. to justify buying more in the next size up simply for just the few times going out. Obviously we'd have to do this every few weeks as she grows out of the previous disp. size, and therefore I'd have a zillion packs of all different sizes all barely touched. I'd like to use cloth with our next baby when the time comes too, so I can't see using too many of these leftover disps.

If I go out for just an hour or so I've taken her out in M-Ease diapers and changed her when we've returned home. The idea of being out for a longer time and having a soggy or poopy cloth diaper on her seems pretty unpleasant esp. for her poor bum sitting in a soggy mess. I'm not opposed to changing her in public with cloth, but how do you cart the whole mess home to deal with later? I've been really good with changing her frequently and in soaking/washing the diapers, that I want to keep things as simple and as easy as I can. I love the M-Eases and don't particularly want to use disps. at all if I can help it, but for convenience with extended outings, I think they're the way to go.

After that loooong post, what does anyone suggest? We live in Canada BTW, so if there's much smaller packs/trial packs of disps. available in the States, we don't have such a thing here. Thanks for any suggestions!
