You may have already tried this, but. . .
If you have hard water, you may need to try adding two capfuls of calgon to boiling hot water (pour into the washer). Let soak a couple of hours and run a wash cycle with it. Then try adding Downey Advanced (the only o.k. fabric softener for diapers). Rinse, rinse, rinse.

: Hi
: I have ME one size, I love them. However, they are 2 and 1/2 years old and have become so stiff and hard, inside that they are unusable. I have baby number 2 arriving in 6 weeks and do not know what to do. I love the diapers but am afraid that if I buy more ME they will go the same way. I expected to be able to use my first set for my second child. I have tried to wash the diapers in everyway suggested, vinegar, bleach as suggested by Erica about a year ago, I've even tried descaler on one, to no avail, extra hot washes......The diaper is rigid like a piece of cardboard inside both liner and diaper, hardly bends, only in the most used area of the diaper, the rest of the diaper is soft and fine, but the hard bit makes it unwearable. It seems as if it is the fabric padding inside the diaper which has gone very hard. What I don't understand is why it is just one area of the diaper. Any answers?
