I would try a dry bucket method. I start out with a puddle of white, cheap, vinager at the bottom of the pail and then just add diapers. I do dump out my 2 year old sons poops, into the toilet. It only gets smelly (amonia smell) as the bucket gets really full- like on the 3rd day. I either ignore it, knowing I will wash diapers that day or add another splash of vineger.
You know, I did the wet pail method all thru my older sons diapering experience and none of those diapers survived to use on baby #2, or very few of them. On the other hand, baby #2 is almost 2 years old and all his diapers still look great. I really think a dry pail vs. wet pail can make the difference between your diapers lasting one child or two, or being worthy of resale or not, when you are done with them. For what I paid for my ME diapers I want them to last as long as possable. As far as stains go, I might soak in the washing machine over night with some Nature Brite (Shaklee) and then run them the next day but I really do not worry so much about stains, I get those out with the sun, when it shines!
Just my thoughts....
