: I also have a front-loader & use a dry pail. I use one of those rubbermaids with the seal around the lid (made for storing pet food. I sprinkle baking soda in the bottom & use cheap trash bags for liners.
: I wash every other day like this: cold prewash with baking soda, hot wash/cold rinse regular length cycle with a small amount of detergent. That's it! well, almost...
: I use vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser for about every other wash. About once every 2 weeks I run an extra rinse to be sure all the detergent is getting out. Detergent biuld-up can lead to smell problems - like if your dipes don't smell clean after washing or have a strong smell as soon as your baby wets.
: You nmay also have a smell problem if you're trying to wash too many diapers at once. I have heard that you have to keep the number under 24 or they don't get clean.
: Does this help?
Thanks the suggestions help I've never tried the baking soda in the bottom, my only difficulty, is that my 2 1/2 year old's diapers smell of ammonia really badly even when they're freshly wet, and as they age it just gets worse. I wash every other day (2 in diapers means I have 16- 18 every other day) and they smell great after washing and line drying, it's just his pee I guess--something in his chemical make up!
