Like the others said, this is most likely a case of detergent build-up. Less is definetly more when it comes to washing diapers. Too much detergent (usually about 1/4 to 2/3 of the recomended amount is plenty) will build up in diapers and cause a chemical reaction when it comes in contact with the amonia in urine. It smells slightly dirty when clean and dry, and absolutly horrendus when wet!
Run your clean diapers through the wash with no detergent until you no longer see suds while agitating. Then when resuming regular washing, reduce the amount of detergent you use and do one or more extra rinses until you see hardly any suds in the final rinse.
