Thanks for your opinion! They are actual Chinese pre-folds. In the brochure she tells about the village in China that they come from. I forget the name, but near Shanghai. It's one of those deals where the village owns the factory, so it's good working conditions and all. I would think if the ammonia were wearing it down, there would be wear all through, not just the sides. My mom used American-made diapers that went through five babies (they were hand-me-downs when we got them), she used bleach and a dry pail and those diapers are still going strong. My grandmother uses them to take off her nail polish. And the diapers I have are supposed to be much better quality. I e-mailed a diaper service asking their opinion (I figure they're experts) but haven't heard back.
I used Oxiclean in the rinse the first few months, but that was over a year ago. It would't be showing up now. I did bleach a few of them once when Katy had bad diahhrea. But that was like 6 diapers and I have 2 1/2 dozen showing this wear. So that wasn't it.
