I know that Granite smith (on Ebay) and Indisposables (who I used to use the diapers of) both recommend strongly against Dreft. they say it builds up and will reduce absorbancy and will make a build up.
Personally I use Tide. A lot of manufacturers seem to recommend, or at least say this is ok. I use the least amount possible. I have also used, on occasion the Costco brand detergent that comes in the big 5 gallon bucket. No matter which one I use, I use the least amount that I can and still get them clean. That is about 1/3 a cup for a large load. I wash twice and then do an extra rinse. When I have a LOT of stains, I fill the washer with hot water and add "Nature Bright" by Shaklee, it is amazing! Gets out all stains with out bleaching.
