Hi Amanda:

Sorry, I can't answer your dilemma about the XS Sandys/covers --I started with Motherease once my daughter was 10 lbs. She's now 15 lbs and just turned 6 months old.

Just a comment about using Sandys with a tiny newborn... I don't know if your little one has been born yet, but their first poops (meconium) are very sticky and very black and will be next to impossible to wash out of the terrycloth fabric. It's literally like sticky tar.

I would suggest either some sort of a protective liner (disposable/flushable are so easy) or disposable diapers until that meconium is passed (maybe also until the umbilical cord falls off and heals too because it needs to kept as dry as possible)

This is just a little cautionary note so your beautiful diapers don't get ruined the first few days of use. You will find a ton of information on this board, and everyone is helpful and very willing to share experience to learn from!
