We had to adjust ours when we switched from an agitating maching to a front loader. But I'm not sure if the smell was due to the washing machine as it was the same time as I stopped bf'ing and she was eating more solids/formula. I basically kept adjusting different things but the thing that helped the most is RINSE, RINSE, RINSE!!! So little detergent is required.
