For me, it depends on where I'm going, how long I'll be staying and if I'll have easy access to a washing machine.

If I'll be gone for more than 2 days and won't have easy access to a washing machine (say you're in a foreign country or staying with relatives who don't want you using their machine for diapers), then I might consider disposables.

But usually I'll just use my cloth diapers.... It's really not that much more trouble and I also find it a little silly to buy a pack just for that. If I had a few lying around already I might use them for nighttime as those diapers tend to be the stinkiest but other than that I wouldn't bother. On the other hand, if you'll be gone a week and buy just a small pack of disposables you probably would use most (if not all) of it so at least you wouldn't be stuck with extras after.

It really depends on you, if you're willing to do it and if relatives you'd be staying with would object.... It's certainly doable though. I did it earlier this year when we went on a 3 night stay out of town with the kids. I brought a few disposables for nighttime to keep the smell in my PUL bag to a minimum and used cloth other than that. I didn't have to wash while away but if we'd be gone any longer I would have and would just have taken them to a laundromat.

Karen.
