I guess all you can do is decide wether it's more important to have a trim bum or save $ etc... by using your cloth diapers. As long as the baby's clothes fit properly with the cloth on, I personally wouldn't worry about it. Especially if money is an issue and the cost of disposables is a significant issue.
Personally I've always prefered the Sandy's over the One-Size. But I admit I don't have a whole lot of experience with the One-Size because I wasn't crazy about it. The One-Size will definetly be more bulky on a small baby (when you have to fold the front down). But on an older baby it may be a little trimmer because there is one less layer of fabric inside so it's a little thinner.
