I don't know anything about sewing but just wanted to say that polar fleece isn't an absorbing material so it's not a good idea to use it as an inner absorbant layer. Polyester fleece does not absorb anything at all and will probably only interfere with the absorption of the diaper.

Fleece is a good material to use as liners to keep baby dry (or to make a pocket diaper) or for covers. For covers you'll need a thicker, really good quality fleece so that it's waterproof. And for liners you'll need thinner and/or cheaper fleece so that it lets urine pass right through.

I would recomend that you do searches for diaper sewing boards and groups, there are a lot of such groups out there and they'll be able to give you a LOT of experienced suggestings and help.

Karen.
