Don't count on the One-Size fitting at that weight range..... It really depends a lot on the build of the child. I'm very doubtful they would have fit my children that long (I used it for my daughter for a while but then sold it because I prefered Sandy's). It really seems to vary as to how long they fit (and that can probably be said for pretty much any diaper. I would recomend sticking with diapers that are specifically made for toddlers (like the ME Toddle-ease) as the One-Size is only 'meant' to fit up to 35lbs. It wouldn't hurt to try a One-Size (maybe email ME to get specific measurments) but I wouldn't buy a bunch of them unless you're sure you can return them if they don't fit.
Another option would be to go with cheap toddler prefolds. They're a little more inconvenient, especially when dealing with poop but I'm assuming your son is close to potty training age anyway so you wouldn't have to deal with it long, if at all. They're very cheap even when new, usually less than $2 each!
