My son is also a big time night wetter and we went through all sorts of leaks before I came to this board for answers.
He's currently 10 months and 26 lbs and what we do is a Lg Sandie, a Chinese Prefold (I like the egyptian cotton one the best that I bought off e-bay, it's a preemie size so it fits right in) then a doubler, then a stay dry layer (or just an ME stay dry doubler)
I have just moved him up to the XL cover (Rikki or AF) but sometimes I can still fit him into the Lg one). In the morning his diaper weighs about 5 lbs BUT it has leaked out again.
