Lanolin OK for ME diapers?

Lately I've been hearing of the use of Lanolin as a diaper cream, but since Lanolin serves as waterproofing for wool covers, I wondered if it would mess up the diaper absorbancy or build up in the diapers (if used regularly), as KarenC mentioned in the thread about zinc oxide.

Any thoughts?
