My first advice is don't be so hard on yourself. If your stressed the child feels it and it makes it harder for everyone. Second in my experiance what works best is to not make a big deal out of accidents and to make a HUGE DEAL out of it when he goes on the toilet. Praise him, reward him, jump up and down and sing a song. Do your best to ignore the accident just get him to help clean up. Also take him to the potty every hour even if he dosn't need to go, just to make a habbit out of it, take a special toy or book in with you. This may take a few days but you will see a diffance. I hope this helps :-) Best of luck to you :-)
: Does any one have any encouragement or help with regards to potty training? I'm using CD on a 33 mo.old & 8 mo old, using 30 diapers, so need to get my toddler potty trained. I'm getting discouraged with the amount of poop with a child that big and the mess involved. He doesn't seem to have a clue about when he goes, and isn't at all interested in progressing. It's -40 here in Canada now, so going without pants isn't an option. With my first I didn't force issue (He trained at 36 months), but afterward felt I was and am too harsh on him when he had/has accidents (4 poops in underwear this weeek), and want to change that this time! After almost 6 years in CD's is it no wonder I'm tired, and I have at least 2 more years to go, (more so if we have the 4th we want) so any help or encouraging words are most welcome. E-mail or post whichever you prefer.
