How well liners of any kind (flushable or fleece) work really depends on the child. Both my children's bowel movements were so soft and sticky (even when they'd been on solids for well over a year and weren't nursing at all) that they just don't work very well for us. They do help and sometimes I get lucky and I just have to drop the liner in the toilet, but not very often. Usually I have so much on the diaper that I have to dunk anyway. And neither of my children were ever predictable as to when they'd go. Even now at almost 3 years old (and almost trained, Yeah!) he's totally unpredictable.

As for the mess of a soaking diaper I usually just take the diaper change mat that I used to put under my baby's bum and use that to put the diaper on so I have something waterproof to carry it on to the pail. You can also use the diaper cover if you're not reusing it. A diaper pail right next to the toilet is also a good idea. A trail of poopy water is definetly not inevitable, I've never done that.

Karen.
