Thanks for the trick! I will definitely give it a try!

: : I've just learned a trick from another site and wanted to let you all in on it. I have no idea WHY this works, so don't ask me about the chemistry.. I have theories but thats as far as my brain power goes for this one.

: : So here it is. To combat/avoid a buildup on your diapers use a squirt of Dawn dishsoap (thats right.. the stuff you wash dishes with) to the wash. It's a degreaser and will help to break up the detergent buildup on the fibers. It's especially helpful for diapers that either don't absorb at all (poly) or that absorb a LOT (hemp). Don't ask me why.. it just works.

: : Don't overdo it. Just a little squirt. Wash on hot. And remember to do extra rinces until there are no suds (remember there might be a few months of detergent in these diapers).

: : Hope this helps.. it certainly helped me.
: : Dawn.

: Hi Dawn,

: I've been doing this too, b/c ever since I got some hemp and fleece diapers, i've had problems with odor with all my diapers, including my ME stuff. What a pain! I've been trying all kinds of things like baking soda and vinegar, sportswash, etc and this has been the first thing to really make a difference. It's so nice to open up the dryer now and there's no smell!!
