I use Aveeno diaper cream which has zinc in it, and I haven't had any problems. Make sure you check ingredients on any you buy because most zinc creams, including generic ones do have the cod fish oils that can cause smells. I know that Aveeno doesn't have it. I have also used just a regular petroleum type cream (no zinc) as a barrier when I know I won't be able to change a diaper for a longer period of time, like a car trip or overnight. This has helped prevent any rashes in the first place. Hope that helps!
