If you buy 24 diapers (I think that's the Complete Package??) then you'd probably have to launder every day and a half with a newborn (they can go through as many as 10-12 diapers per day). Also depends on wether you're line drying or not. Line drying takes longer obviously so you have to have more clean diapers to get you through till the other ones are dry.

With a slightly older baby and 24 diapers you'd probably only have to wash every 2nd day and with a toddler maybe even every 3rd day. Of course, by then you may have to buy another set of diapers if you're using the Sandy's.

I really think two convenience packages is overkill... That's 72 diapers for one child, waayyyy too many for home washing. Diaper services give you that many diapers but that's because they only pick up (and wash) once a week. I would never recomend someone who washes at home go a whole week between washings. That's just too long and you can end up with odor problems (and lots of stains probably). Diaper services can get away with it because they have industrial washers and use much harsher chemicals.

I would recomend between 24 and 36 diapers depending on age and how often you want to wash. If you can afford it, 30 or 36 would probably be nice in the beginning. That way you wouldn't feel as rushed to do diapers and you could take your time a little more (always nice while caring for a newborn). Then when you buy the second set of diapers (this is assuming you're using Sandy's of course) then you could go with only 24 and still have plenty.

Karen.
