Hi there sarah

I am a recent convert to the cloth diapering world. My DD is 2 , after I spent a pretty penny on my diaper stash , DD is using the potty most of the time now, of course the day I get my first sugar peas heirloom tea cup cover , lol , ....
well we had the same problem, Sams get a horrible rash and just wouldn't go away, but I was really motivated by the cute factor and also that I was hoping it woudl move along the potty training , which it did immensely, she is almost trained after just a few months in cloth....
Well I found that the issue with us was she was wearing diapers I had made her out of Wal Mart flannel, that was a big no no My DD is also prone to eczema out breaks as I am aswell. The Urine on her tushie was devistating to her.
however I can tell you ther is a light at the end of the tunnel, we switched to Fuzzi Bunz, My sister opened up a great retail site on the web www.Sweetbunz.com, roughly a month prior to the birth of her now 3 month old little girl, and she told me all about the stay dry fleece and such. So that was that, with a little burt's bee's ointment and a FB we were rash free over night, now I keep her mostly in the fuzzi bunz for ease but we also do the hemp woll combo on occasion when we are wanting to be pretty :)

But like I said she is almost potty trained lol and I have a beautiful applique tea cup cover from sugar peas arrrgh ,

Also something you might think about aswell , you don't need to just do the FB, any kind of fleece liner will keep the bum pretty dry, I mean you could even go buy some fleece and make a few contour shapes to lay in her diapes she has now. I have done this for my fitted diapes I made her myslef I couldn't bare to get rid of them :) only thing I ever made that was functionably :)Also , something else I ran in to with sams was that she is a really heavy wetter, and we use hemp exclusively for its absorbancy, if her diapes aren't absobant enough for her needs she will more than likely get a lot of urine on her bum bum .
But you know of course babies need to be changed when soiled however , 2 hemp liners at her age depending on how heavy a wetter she is , in a fuzzi bunz , shoudl hold her all night or atleast come close 3 liners if she is a serious wetter, my niece is 3 months and goes all night with 1 hemp jersey liner in her FB
joey bunz also has a micro fleece topped liner that we put in our fitteds aswell

well good luck and hope you don't get to discouraged

: I recently switched from disposables to cloth. Cloth contained the poop better than disposables, but my baby got a bad diaper rash with cloth because her skin would come in contact with the wet diaper. It got better after going back to super absorbent disposables. I must admit that I wasn't changing her as often as I should at first with the cloth. But I started changing her every couple of hours every day with no sign of improvement. The doctor recommended that I stay with disposables. I'd like to continue with cloth but I don't want to be changing her every couple of hours. She's almost 8 months now. She also has eczema which means her skin is very sensitive. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
