Hello Ladies! I have been using these *God send* Motherease diapers with the same covers for about Sept 2003, and i have noticed lately that the covers are reeeeeeking beyond belief! I've tried to "strip" them like we do with the diaps, but that doesn't seem to be helping.
Here's a little bit about our laundry habits (we have a front loader): wash dry pailed diaps and covers every other day, run hottest cycle with minimal Arm n Hammer liquid soap, baking soda, and Calgon (can't use vinegar--hard water problem), then run thru cold normal cycles twice and throw in dryer. Once a week, i use Downy Ultra during the middle cycle to soften up the diaps real well.
Is there anything about this that can be changed so that my little girl doesn't smell like she has a present in her pants all the time? Or do i just shell out for new covers? Also, how many covers are a good amount for 24 hour cloth diapering (we have 4)?
