You certainly can use the Stay-Dry liners with the reg. OS (or any diaper for that matter), that's what it's made for and it will definetly protect your baby's skin for nighttime.
I wouldn't recomend getting the OS Dry and then using regular liners with that unless you add the liners *outside* the diaper. Anything meant to keep baby dry works only if it's right against baby's skin. If you put a regular liner on top of a stay-dry covering then you're rendering it useless....
If you're looking to save a few bucks and already have regular liners then you can just get some cheap polyester fleece at your local fabric store (or WalMart even) and cut it to the size you want. No sewing needed as fleece doesn't unravel. Fleece works the same way the stay-dry liners do, by letting moisture pass right through it and drying almost instantly (because it doesn't absorb anything).
