Just wanted to share this tip that someone gave to me to prevent the mechonium from staining cloth diapers. It worked great.
Buy those select a size Bounty paper towels and use one sheet inside the diaper. The pee goes right through it and catches all the sticky mechonium. Plus, they are soft enough to use to wipe the excess off the baby's skin. PLUS.... when the mechonium is done passing, you can use the remaining paper towels in your kitchen!!!
I have used cloth since the beginning of my newborns life (10 days) and have no mechonium stains at all in the diapers.
Hope this is helpful to anyone who doesn't want to use paper diapers in those first few days, like me. :o) It was so nice to put a soft cotton cloth against her new skin.
