question Boy Clothes (llmeerstra)
Posted: 5:09:12 pm on 2/28/2008 Modified: Never

Just wondering what baby clothes fit the best for CD'ed babies.  Is there a store/company that fits better than another?  My son is 4 months old and about 14 lbs and is already wearing some 12 month clothes.  Any suggestion would be great!

I am in search always too because my baby girl is all chubs. I have found while my son was a small babe that H&M is  great for leaving diaper room.(my inlaws are from nl so I get them lots)I am discovering lately that most gymboree is the same.Old navy seems to be for teeny weeny babies ...thats all I know for now. Hopefully someone else has more suggestions, i could benefit from the answer as well! Good luck to you!

I don't know much about particular brands but I know that overalls are the best for boys (dresses and overalls for girls). One piece 'romper' type outfits are also great. Anything without elastic at the waist works well. I've found jeans are more difficult except over the trimmest diaper. Jogging type pants work a little better because they're not as stiff.

HTH,
Karen.

I found gymboree runs large, although they are so expensive, I've only ever bought them from thrift stores and gotten them as hand me downs from friends.  When my son was young and it was cold he wore a lot of the one-piece snappy outfits and when it was warm, I often left him without pants unless we were going somewhere I wanted to show him off.  Other than that, we would just put him in larger sizes of pants, as long as they fit, who cares?  Now that he's older, I find that the diaper bulk isn't as pronounced and he can wear the same cloths in CD or sposies.

I have a 13month old 21lb son, and I've found that the easiest for us is to put on a onesie that buttons in the crotch, and pull up some elastic waist "sweat pants". I've found inexpensive pants at both Gap and Babiesrus (their own brand i think it was).  They have a LOT of give for the diaper to fit, plus they look incredibly cute with their big bums! HTH

Hanna Anderson clothes fit very well (both boys and girls) if you want to spend that much money.

for spring and summer, I have had great success with an on-line company called www.babystyle.com   They have their own line of knit cotton pullon pants that are super stretchy and comfy.  Last summer I bought my son several sleeveless one piece "overall style" with snaps at the crotch. just bought one size up so there's more length in the body. there were no rivits like typical overalls, just soft cotton and I layered it with short and long sleeved tees underneath.  I also bought those onesie extenders with snaps - that helped with lengthening any tee or turtleneck onesies. I would also choose the long shorts style in knit cotton - then the pants wouldn't be too long.  hope this helps.

Overalls seemed to work the best for my boys.  Also, like a previous poster said, the snap-up one-piece outfits are great year around. Luckily, for my 24 lb 9 mo old girl, we can do a lot of dresses over stretchy pants, or cute longer shirts over stretchy pants.  Yay for stretchy!
