I just got some NIP bamboo Sandy's...didn't come with the package insert though. Anyone refresh my memory here on what they recommend for prepping these before use?

Thanks!

General prepping is washing 3-4 times on hot, with a little bit of detergent.  Sometimes it takes a little more than that to get diapers up to full aborbancy.
Interesting question, though:  My understanding is that the initial washes have to do with getting the oils out of the cotton material.  Does bamboo have the same/similar oils that need to be washed out?  Hmmmm

Hi there Amy! Welcome to the board!! Nice to 'see' you!

I agree, 3-4 hot washes sounds about right. I think that bamboo does have those same oils based on the instructions I got with my bamboozles. They said they needed about 10 hot washes to achieve max absorbancy, though of course they'd work before that. I think they recomended 2 pre-washes and then said that they'd 'peak' after 10 washes.

I just received a bamboo dipe to try and was also wondering about the initial prepping.  Do we only use a 1/4-1/2 the recommended detergent amount or full strength?  And is the washing soda/simple green recipe sufficient or do you use a regular commercial detergent?  Don't want to start off on the wrong foot...
Thanks!

I don't think you'd have to go full strength on detergent, and I'd think that the SG/washing soda recipe would work just fine, since there's really not much more besides enzymes, optical brighteners, and difference fragrance that you're getting from the commericial detergents.

Yup, I agree, I wouldn't go full strenght either. I usually go for less than what I'd normally use to wash dirty diapers. I figure you do need some detergent to help disolve the oils but they're not really 'dirty' so you don't need as much.
