HI everyone,
I just ordered a set of bamboo diapers with snap in liners, and I just noticed that the tag on all of the diapers say 85% rayon/ viscose. On my older set of bamboo dipes, it says 85% bamboo......does anyone else have the same issue? I am hoping that it is an error, but I am really worried that they are not actually bamboo. I called ME, but they are closed. I will try again tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone else had the same issue.
Thanks for getting back to me. |

My understanding is that, like the regular cotton diapers, the bamboo diapers have 15% polyester and 85% bamboo (or cotton). If the tags on your new ones say 85% rayon, etc., that has to be printing error. Even if ME assures you that it's a printing error, if you are considering reselling them at some point, I would consider asking ME to replace them because you don't want to freak out the new owners. |

| My sandys( I just got them Monday) and onesize say it. My liners say 85% bamboo. I never read it. I am sure there is some logical reason. I agree with the other poster on replacing tags at least. |

Hi,
Thanks so much for your responses. I am sure that it is a printing error too, but I am very concerned about the resale value with misprinted tags. Anyway, I just got them today and won't wash them until it's all settled. I will keep you posted on what ME says. Liz |

| Yes my bamboo Sandy's tag says 85% rayon/viscose 15% polyester. I just received them 2 days ago. I will also contact motherease and see how to remedy this situation. |

Just a thought, unless you're planning on reselling them after only a couple months of use, the tags will probably have fallen off  or be faded/crumpled enough to not be legible) by the the time you get around to selling them. The outer tag lasts forever, but the inner tag is much softer (probably to prevent irritation against baby's skin) and doesn't last very long at all. Both the outer tag (which is different in at least the bamboo Sandy's) and the stitching are unique to bamboo so they're still easily identifiable.

Karen, you are probably right. This is my first baby, and I plan on using the diapers with any other children I have, so by the time I sell them, the tags will most probably be faded. I am not really worried anymore. I have other bamboo dipes and know that these are truly bamboo. I am sure that it is a misprint. Thanks for all of the responses. Liz |

I was just reading about bamboo on a website with bamboo facts, and the site states that sometimes bamboo that is chemically treated is referred to as bamboo rayon. Perhaps the printing on the tags have something to do with the way the bamboo was processed. Anyway, here is the website foe those of you who are interested. It all makes sense now!

| So the bamboo may be misleading. It says on the Bamboo page grown with out pesticides, but it was manufactured with chemicals? I guess it is better than sposies though. Anyway, thanks for the info. |

| I'm certain your tags have a misprint. Mine have been used 2wks and there isn't much left to the tag so i'm sure after a month, all print on your tags will have been washed away anyway. It prompted me to look at mine but mine are correct. Call Mother-ease and let them know, though. They will have a lot of complaints to expect! |

| Good point about the tags fading and coming off. You're right, they don't last that long (and I cut mine off because I was sick of checking to make sure they were tucked in), so it's probably not worth replacing the dipes. |

Hi everyone, I called ME this morning, and I will do my best to explain what they told me. It seems that once bamboo is turned into fabric, it can no longer be called bamboo ( in Canada, at least) on the tag because although bamboo fibers were used to make the diapers, the end result is a rayon like fabric. This is very similar to what I had read online last night. This new labeling is fairly recent, and so it is possible that some people are still getting bamboo dipes with the old bamboo labels, as ME is probably trying to get rid of their older stock. I hope that clarifies the situation for those in the same boat as me. Liz |

New Rayon/Viscose Labels -
Our bamboo along with virtually all of the bamboo on the market is made using the viscose process. This process was developed about 100 years ago and uses chemicals to soften chopped up bamboo and then extrudes this liquid into fibres which are spun into yarn.
Our bamboo diapers with the new Rayon/Viscose labels are the same as before we only changed the label to comply with Federal labeling regulations which do not recognize bamboo as a fiber. This applies to Canada, the US and Europe.
