Deciding whether to replace my motherease diapers (ontariangirl)

Hi!
I love my motherease diapers, but am wondering if I should replace them.  They have been used on my nieces (but not very often), then on my son for a year and now on my other son for a year and a half.

Do you have any advice for knowing when the diapers should be thrown out?  Mine look okay... some stains, but nothing terrible.  And they still work beautifully.  I am expecting another baby in January and I wonder if they will make it another 2 years or if I should invest in a new lot of them.

Any advice would be great!
Thanks,
julie

I'd say keep them. If they still work fine then that's what really matters. It's way cheaper (you can't beat free!!) and it's the best eco-choice too. You can always use some liners if they're starting to be not quite as absorbant as they used to be. I even remember one mom sewing some fabric to the center part of her diapers to increase absorbancy (they were quite old and worn, but the elastic was still good). She even sewed cute patterned fabric to the outside and got herself some adorable diapers to boot!

If they start getting really worn before your little one is out of diapers you could always buy a few to supplement your stash. Either now so that what you have gets washed less frequently or later on when you need less diapers anyway...

Karen.

Not to mention that if you are having your last child, buying the diapers later means that their resale value will be higher if that is something you may be interested in...

I agree that holding on to them seems like a good idea since you never know, they may last.  Not to say you can't buy a couple of newer diapers for the new baby
