and I really think it had a lot to do with the fact that he was CD'd!  He just turned 2 in June and is daytime dry.  We still use diapers at naps (sometimes wet) and bedtime (always wet and sometimes dirty).  We went for 5 days with no potty accidents!
The one challenge now is to get him to have a BM in the potty instead of the diaper.  He usually goes in the am before he gets out of bed.  Amy suggestions for moms of older children?

Other than trying to remove his diaper asap in the morning I don't have any golden words of advice except to make really sure you don't push it. I've known at least 2 kids who didn't want to poop in the potty and got so scared of it that they 'held it' in so long that they became seriously constipated. Bowel movements were then very painful, which just plunged them into a vicious cycle and made them that much more reticent to poop in the potty.

Congrats on the daytime dryness though! I've always envied moms of kids who train early like that. My girls will be 3 in less than a month and we're only just now approaching daytime dryness. All poop and pee went in the potty yesterday, that was a big day for us! LOL!

If he's not doing it intentionally (while he's sleeping) then he may not be "ready" physically yet.  Most boys I've known don't potty train until 3 - 3 1/2.  Just keep praising the pottying... he may be ready sooner than most, but he just might not be totally ready YET. My friends daughters all trained in the early 2 range, but boys just usually take longer.  My boy was 3 yrs 3 months. I know people (including Dr. and Nurse's kids who have taken up to 4 1/2... especially if they have siblings at home)  One day out of the blue (after trying months of potty sticker charts to earn rewards, Dr. Phil's doll training method, etc...) Someone said "Doesn't that feel icky?" My son said "yeah." and they suggested it would feel a lot better to go in the potty... and that was it.  He made up his mind and hasn't had an accident since.  (a little dribble here or there, but that's it.) Celebrate the pottys... he'll get the #2's down when he's ready!

My DD has learned to use the toilet at 2 as well (25 mths to be exact), and I think for her it had to do with CD as well!  She was a little slow with #2's too but wasn't so conscientious as your DS to do it in her nighttime diaper but anytime in her underwear.  People kept telling me she isn't ready and to just put her back in a diaper but she was so consistent with peeing, I thought no way was I going to backtrack.  Besides, what difference did it make to wash out undies when I washed cloth diaps before all the time anyway.  After 2 more months of being patient and really praising the times she does a bm in the toilet (accidentally and not happily), she's finally getting the idea.  She went through a funny and a little frustrating phase of going to the toilet even for passing gas.  That meant lots of false alarms before doing the real thing and she insists I follow her every time.  How to get her to just go alone and call me when she's done?

I wouldn't rush her going alone.  The fact that she can do all this already is great!  My daughter did not start going alone until she was well past 3.  If you can keep things going the way they are for a while and then later on ask her if she would like any privacy when she is on the potty.  If you just slip around the corner and then tell her to call you when she's done this will lead to some independence but I wouldn't mess with a good thing too quickly.  Some kids digress when it comes to potty training.
