question Is it worth buying Organic diapers now? (boopie)
Posted: 10:47:07 pm on 9/1/2008 Modified: Never

My twins are 16 months old now and I am considering purchasing some more diapers.  Right now I have about 4 Fuzzi Bunz, a couple of Snugglebottoms and a lot of prefolds.  I am thinking of trying the organic Sandys since  the twins are enjoying taking their diapers off.  I did try the bamboo os months ago but I was having some stink issues.  Do you think it is worth it to invest in a couple organic Sandys or OS now that they are older?
TIA

Sure, I think it's worth it. You still likely have at least a year of diapering during the day (if not closer to two), plus then you'll likely have at least a few more weeks/months (if not years) of using them at night. Remember also that you'll then be able to use them for subsequent children or sell them to recoup some of your investment.

I feel for you with the twins removing their diapers. I went through the exact same thing with my twins and it's such a pain!!! Mine were already in the Sandy's (although a little older than yours so that might be why it was fairly easy for them) so there wasn't much I could do. I heard about one good tip (too late for me but it might help you), for nighttime try putting their pjs on backwards so the zipper/snaps are in the back. MUCH more difficult to remove and if the pj is big enough it should still fit fine (obviously this works much better with non-footed pjs).

Karen.

My twins are 17 months and I just sold all my cotton L Sandy's to replace them with bamboo (one of my boys has sensory issues and I love his mood change since diapers not longer hurt him!). I doubt my twins will be potty trained before three, so I figure we still have lots of use with them! Of course, this thinking takes out the scenario of my preemies not fitting them all the way to potty training, but I am ignoring that for now.

I do suppose that the one benefit to having twins with severe developmental delays is that they have not learned to take off their diapers. In May Timothy quickly learned to remove a disposable while in the hospital (it was a long four days since he didn't have clothes!), but they can't remove their clothes or diapers. Although, I must say Timothy does try to pull his diaper down a bit--the other night I got the boys out of the tub and slapped diapers on them. I wasn't sure who was who and looked at the boy in the hall. I didn't even have to examine the face once I saw the diaper around his hips, his penis sticking out the top, and him dancing!
