I have a box of washing soda and on the side panal there is a tip about using washing soda as a diaper soak, has anyone tried this and does it work? Is it ok for helping the diapers last or does it break down fibers?

It's a main ingredient in many (most??) laundry detergents, even eco-friendly ones, so I'm assuming it's not terribly harmful though I can't see where it would actually 'help' fibers last longer. I've never tried it (personally I've never felt the need to soak my diapers in anything unless I was trying to strip them), but I don't see any harm if you'd like to try it.

Karen.

Thanks Karen. Actually, I did not even know what washing soda was really. I just got it for a recipe for homemade laundry detergent.

I recently went to a dry pail anyway. I coloured my diapers because i read your post about that and it sure makes things easier!

Thanks, Shelly
