I am a regular sandys bamboo user. My baby is outgrowing the small, and I don't think I want to size up to larges. I have heard that they are much larger than the smalls, and I think they may swallow him. Anyway, I am thinking about the One size diapers. I have heard that the bamboo are not as absorbant as the cotton, although they say they absorb the same amount of oz. on the website. Have you found that to be true? Are there any other pros and cons with them that you could help me out with? Thanks |

The bamboo and cotton diapers both absorb the same amount. The bamboo is a more absorbant fabric but what ME has done is reduce the number of layers in the bamboo diapers. So the cotton and bamboo both absorb the same amount but the bamboo is significantly trimmer.
You can get the One-Size is bamboo as well though. If you like you can still stick with the bamboo and just change the diaper.
Honestly though, if you generally like the design and function of the Sandy's, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't like the larger size. Yes, they are larger but not ridiculously so and many babies can comfortably wear them well before they're even 20lbs. My son started them at 10 months old and about 17lbs. My twin girls were about 9-10 months old and about the same weight when they started wearing them. They easily went back/forth between the two sizes for about another 6 months. None of them were at all chunky although they were fairly tall for their age.
That said, the One-Size are a little trimmer than the Sandy's and also a great diaper. I would maybe try one of each to see for yourself which you prefer. At worst it's just one diaper that you can still use anyway, or you can return it (unwashed and unsoiled of course) or sell it to someone on the buy/sell board.
As for pros/cons... The large Sandy's is more absorbant than the One-Size (some toddlers end up needing a liner in every diaper, not all of them, but it's something to consider if you have a really heavy wetter) and will likely fit longer. They're different designs so each may fit different babies differently and everyone has a style they prefer to use. The One-Size allows a parent to buy only one set of diapers since it should last till potty training but that's not really applicable to you at this point unless you plan to have more children...
As for the fabrics, the bamboo is trimmer while offering the same absorbancy. It's supposedly more eco-friendly although that's a little debateable because the processing of the bamboo fiber requires some heavy chemicals. But it is a very sustainable crop that doesn't require pesticides (cotton requires tons unless it's organic of course). It does take longer to dry though... Hmmm I think that's about it...

| Hi- I contemplated the bamboo, but if you look at older posts, they seem to be having a durability problem. I would read the reviews and maybe only invest in a few bamboo to see for yourself before you restock all of them. Just an idea. Good luck. |

I really love my bamboo diapers. I find they are softer than cotton, especially if you line dry, and when wet they don't seem to feel as wet, just damp.
I did have binding issues with my original OS diapers, but motherease replaced them all. My bamboo sandy's and toddlease don't show any wear after 13 months of continuous use.
Cotton is a little cheaper and does dry more quickly. I have a mix of both cotton and bamboo so that is handy cause the cotton dipes are available while I wait for the bamboo to dry. |

I am in the exact same situation as you are keithsmommy.. My baby girl is 7 months and she is out growing her small bamboo sandy's. Her legs are quite chunky, I have the waist on the smallest setting for diapers and covers & always on the largest for the legs. For a baby with chunky thighs and a tiny waist what is the better diaper the OS or the Sandy? I have a couple of the OS bamboo diapers and they don't seem to fit as nice as the Sandy's. I also had to have my OS bamboo diapers replaced the binding has all torn and I have maybe only washed them a dozen times, bought them in Dec. 07. My bamboo sandy's have held up beautifully and I wash them & dry them a lot. Not at all concerned with how they will hold up. I have heard that some say if your child has a small waist the OS can fall down when they start walking? I am not having any more babies. I also have a 4 year old boy. ) I had my son in the reg cotton Sandy's and they were soooo bulky. I have not seen the Large bamboo Sandy's yet. I have also been tempted to just go with the reg. OS diapers since they are cheaper, but afraid of how bulky they might be. Any advice to help me choose would be great ladies! |

I have both the OS and L Sandys in cotton. I usually use the Sandys only at night but today put one on my son for our walk. I have to say that I thought the bulk difference was pretty noticable on him, especially up front, and I'm not really picky about bulk. That wouldn't stop me from using the Sandys regularly if I liked the way they fit better, but it certainly caught my attention. The diapers fit different children differently, so, as Karen said, trying one of each really is the best way to go. If you like the Sandys style but are concerend about bulk, maybe bamboo would make it more attractive. Regarding the OS falling down, I personally haven't experienced this. The only time DS's diapers have fallen down have been those times like extreme puddle-jumping or inadvertant river-diping, where the entire diaper becomes sodden. At that point, it's plumber's crack for sure. I haven't put a Sandy's through that, so can't compare. I do remember being puzzled by a friend saying how necessary onesies were to keep up diapers, since I never have seen them filling that function, but they were talking about disposables! |

I went with the OS! I have some of the Bamboo, so I ordered some of the new pink ones and also some of the white ones. Not like anyone will see it, but I will.. ;o) The lady I spoke with, Karen at ME said that the OS on an older child will be trimmer. Just thought I would share! -Jamie |

Jamie, I made the same desision as you. I bought the bamboo os, and so far I love them. How about you? Let me know how you like yours. |

| Are the colored OS cotton? |

Yes, the cotton onesize do come in colors, but they are not on the website, but you can see them at the bottom of this page. http://www.twinkleontheweb.co.uk/acatalog/Motherease_One_Size.html
I don't think the bamboo come in colors, but I do have some that have been dyed by other people. |
