Mamas I need some help!  I have a Safety First Diaper Pail.  That thing stinks to high heaven!  I realize it will smell when you open it, but we can't even shut baby's door because he will probably suffocate!  I want to know a pail that will contain the odor better before I go out and buy another one!  It is hard enough keeping DH on board let alone have to hear him crab about the smell.  I wash every 2 days.  My dipes don't smell when clean.  I have even tried rinsing even pee diapers to help with odor control but no luck!  Any info is appreciated!

I don't know if you've tried WAHMIES bags- but I find they're great because you can wash them along with diapers.  I have never had a problem with leaks and the ALL DAY size has a loop on it that you can hang it on the back of a door.  It also has a small insert inside that you can put a couple drops tea tree oil or what every essential oil you prefer to mask the diaper smell.  The bags have a zipper so no odours leak out when they are shut.  Another advantage is you don't have to touch the diapers when you are transfering to the washer, I just unzip the bag and throw it in and start my rince cycle.  I have washed mine everyother day for the past 4 months and it's in the same condition as the day I bought it.  I purchase these on EBAY- and have also shopped around... not much variance in price anywhere, but shipping to canada is cheaper on ebay... they cost about $18... and are definetly worth investing in a few.  Hope this helps... BTW they do also have pail liners... I have never used them before though.

I haven't even starting using cloth dipes yet since my baby isn't due for another 7 weeks, but I've heard that sprinkling some baking soda in the pail with your dipes can really help with odour.

Anything with a tight-sealing lid should work okay.  Recently I have been using a large bucket that cat litter came in and it works great, no smell at all.
