question How long did it take? (micah_mae_)
Posted: 11:06:45 pm on 9/27/2008 Modified: Never

Hi, I'm due with my first ds November 20. However I have been in the hospital for the past 3 days with preterm labor so we're just hoping to make it to October 16 now. With that drastic of a change I'm freaking out! We can't afford to buy our MEOS's until October 15! So I guess my question is, how long does ME take to ship out orders and how long does it take to deliver them?

Congrats on that baby boy who just can't wait to see you! I've ordered both diapers, covers, extender tabs on several occasions. They usually fill the order and send it out the next business day. I live in central U.S., and it took about 3 days to get here. Super fast, on several occasions. At least, that's my experience. And if you've read any of the posts on this forum, ME has great customer service. So maybe just ask if they can do what they can to get them to you faster.
Welcome to the world of cloth diapers, and motherhood!
Cheers!

I second that, it likely depends on where you are, but I'm in Vancouver, Canada, and for me it took about a week on two occasions. I would assume it would be similar in any major center. Also, have you checked if any store carries the diapers locally? I know that here I could have picked them up right from the store. It was easier to just order everything as the store often runs out of specific sizes, etc., but if you want to have some basic stuff just in case, it may be worth investigating.

Good luck with your DS!

If you ask them they will probably send them out Priority for you.  Their customer service is great

Good luck on DS.  I too had pre term labor (preemie 34-36 weeks.  SHe is great and you would of never guessed it by looking at her).  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  As far as the shipping, I am in Ohio and we got them in 2 days.  UPS is great.  You can go to UPS.com and see the estimated ship by zip codes.  They have a map.  Also ME will give you the track # so you can see all the activity.  UPS is great too.  Good Luck!!!

My ME orders have generally been to me within a week, and, as other posters have said, their customer service is fantastic.  Although I always encourage using cloth as soon as possible, if you have a preemie, depending on which diapers you use you might find them too big at first, so I wouldn't lose sleep over this--you've got other fish to fry!
That being said, my little guy was born at 35+ weeks and was 5 lbs 12 oz and gained weight at the slowest "normal" rate he could. He was in disposables at first, but I got so sick of them leaking that at 6.5 lbs I decided to see if I could use my OS and S Sandys, and found that they worked just fine.  That was my second time around, so I was good at using them and all, but you can always experiment at lower than recommended weights, and it just might work out great.

Diapers aside, finding out that I wasn't going to carry my baby to term was very hard for me to hear; there are so many worries about baby's health, and it was also hard for me not to feel responsible somehow.  I hope you don't feel that way, but also that you have great people around you to support you and give you peace.  Hospitals are so amazing these days and babies are astoundingly resilient.  My stressful little preemie is now nearly two and is a racing-around maniac, stringing together whole sentences and charming us anew every day.
All best wishes for your little guy to stay where he is for as long as possible!

aavt, I feel your pain.

I too felt this way.  I did not use the support (thought I needed no one) and had PSTD 3 years later and she had only minor health issues (we am great now).  So please deal with it then. Mine is almost 6 and she was 6#3oz 34-36 weeks and was off the charts for weight gain as she grew..  They said she was huge.  But the hospitals are wonderful for help.  I do not know about the cloth, but I also had another child and we were able to carry until 38 weeks.  He was 8#4oz and wow.  Full of it.  SO this could give others hope.  My preemie is one of the smartest kids.  She is just so amazing.  So To all the preemie mommas - Good Job!!!  It is not our faults!!!  It is nature.
