  New bamboo diapers (Fanfreluche)

My entire stash of diapers was replaced recently as my old ones were from the first batch of bamboo OS and the binding was faulty. Great service from ME once again, and I am more than a happy customer with my brand new dipes. Anyway, the new diapers seem soooo much softer than the old ones, and although I'm sure that they will get less soft and fuzzy with time, I can't help but think that my old ones were not quite like that, even new. Also, the new diapers seem bigger or at least more stretchy; I can button them one notch tighter than the old ones.

So did the fabric actually change, or is it just that old diapers (mine were 12 months old) lose a lot of their stretchiness and softness and I don't have a good enough memory of what they used to be like?

Not an overly important question, mind you. I'm just curious about what other people found. Thanks!

As they lose their fuzz they will get less soft. Of course line drying delays that process a lot.

I must say, all of this discussion about the bamboo not lasting has made me scared that I have wasted money I didn't have in selling my cotton and getting bamboo. When I look at my bamboo I notice that the fuzz comes off in patches, but this I thought normal as they will lose that fuzz. I have three old cotton diapers around that were used different amounts of time and was trying to compare fuzz loss, but the fibers are so different that I can't compare. But, this all made me wonder exactly what people are talking about when they say they have gotten "bald spots" on their diapers? Is it like all the fibers (loops) are gone and only that inner polyester remains--like a very, very, very old terry towel?

I have been pleased with ME with everything and feel they have awesome diapers. I wouldn't consider going elsewhere. But, I guess I am feeling a little worried that I chose a fabric that may not hold up--and would like a little reassurance.

Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about it...

Yes, the first batch of OS bamboo diapers had a problem with the binding, but ME replaced (and is still replacing) them all, which is how I ended up with a brand new set of diapers after a full year of use. It's true that the bamboo diapers have not been fully tested yet as they have been on the market for only a year and a bit, but I guess I would see how they actually hold up before worrying about it.

So far very little people seem to have had problems with them. After a year of use, they seem to be going strong. Mine were good as new, apart from the binding (well, they were stained, but that's because of blueberry season, not ME) and I dry them in the dryer. People that use the Sandy's don't seem to have any problem with the bamboo either. So I wouldn't want to discourage people from buying bamboo, because I personally feel that they are well worth it for their softness, their thinness and the environmental factor.

Thank you for the reassurance! I bought the bamboo specifically for the softness with an added bonus of the trimness (on my short little men who have huge issues with long pants STILL). I am very happy with them and will continue to be.

I remember the day after my boys first had blueberries this summer: my diapers had polka dots out on the clothes line!
