  sun bleaching??? (tanis)

Hi, I have recently started using the MEOS natural cotton diapers and have had some staining. My baby is 4 months old and EBF. His poops are typical of a breastfeed babe who is also teething.... watery and plentiful. I love that the MEOS contains everything but I am not crazy about the stains... I have heard about line drying in the sun to remove stains...What happens on cloudy days? I had to do a load today (it's been 3 days now) and it is really overcast here. Do I put the dipes on the line anyway? If they dry stained will the stain be set?? Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated!

I would put them on the line, they will probably lighten up even if it is cloudy, leave them out as long as possible then throw them in the dryer to finish up.
I find line drying is the only way to really get the poop stains out.

Yes, the sun works wonders - it's amazing for BF poop stains! I just sunned a batch yesterday and they look like new! I wash every 2 days and put out my dipes for a couple hours as long as it's not raining. Even if the stains have gone through the dryer, all will bleach out in about 2 hours on a good sunny day in my experience. It will still work some on overcast days, just not as well. So, you can't get the stains out every time you wash, but anytime it's sunny, they will all come out.

Sun is amazing--my MIL asked if I'd gotten a new set of diapers when I was finally able to hang my diapers out after a winter of being bright orange inside!
One thought is that if you don't like the stains, you might try using fleece liners.  The fleece will not hold stains, and most of the poop will stay on the liner rather than on the diaper.  Obviously BF poo can get everywhere, but this can help minimize contact with the diaper and thus lessen staining.

Thanks for the advice! I have thought about making my own fleece liners and was wondering if I could use an old polar fleece blanket that I have??? The tag says 100% polyester and so I am not sure if this is 'true' fleece that will work in a diaper. Good to hear that the stains bleach out no matter how much time lapses without a good sunning. I have mine on the line now and it is full sun today so I am excited to see the results for myself.
