Has anyone else found lumps in the OS after extended use?  The lumps are at the corner edges of the sewn-in liner.  My cotton diapers probably don't owe me anything (I got a really good deal last year - even if I have to replace them now), but I had hoped they'd last a bit longer.  DS#2 is only 20 months and if his brother is any indication, he'll be in diapers for a while yet.

Will line drying slow the process down at all?  I've been using my dryer cause with working full-time I don't have the time to hang and dry.  I only wash 2x/week so they aren't being washed all the time.

Any thoughts?

Totally normal and not much to be done about it. It's just lint that's accumulated in the corners... Lint coming off the surface layers of the diaper get washed or dried away, but lint from the layers inside have nowhere to go so they eventually just accumulate and form balls. Sometimes if the lint stays spread out you won't feel it or maybe the fabric is thick enough and the balls small enough that you can't feel them much. Sometimes it accumulates in areas where you just don't notice it but it's pretty common.

It's pretty harmless and certainly doesn't mean that your diapers are finished. If it really bugs you, it's always possible to open up the diaper, take out the lint balls and then close it up again.

Karen.

I haven't yet seen this in my line-dried diapers, and some of them have been in use for 4 years now.

Thanks for the info

I wondering if the inner lining was coming apart.  I can live with the lumps as long as the diaper works.  I usually use a liner with these diapers anyway cause they go to daycare and I know they don't change the diapers as often as I do.

I guess line drying is really the way to go for longevity or resale value.  Like I said, these diapers don't owe me anything.  (I've averaged them out to less than 2 cents per diaper change now).

Thanks again

My diapers are on the fourth child.  Yes, we have lumps.  We line dry in the summer, but don't in the winter.  I did take apart one very very used diaper to see what the lumps were.  Just like other posters said, it's just lint.  I don't use lumpy diapers for bedtime, who'd want to sleep with a lumpy diaper? but otherwise these are still perfectly functioning diapers.
