OK.  I dropped my Diva cup in the toilet.  Gross.  I think it said you had to buy a new one.  Is this necessary?  Can't I just boil it?  What would you do?  I love it and this is only day 4 of my 7 day cycle.

I would think that a good cleaning and maybe a boiling would do just fine. Pretty sure that's happened to me a couple times in the past and to be perfectly honest I'm not even sure if I boiled it (washed it really well with really hot water obviously but I don't think I boiled it).

I mean, hot water & soap are good enough for our hands after cleaning the toilet, after wiping ourselves or after changing a diaper. I can't see where washing & boiling wouldn't be enough for a dropped Diva Cup. But that's just me and I've always been pretty relaxed about the whole 'germ' thing...

I looked it up on their website though, and you're right, they do say to replace it if it's 'exposed to unsanitary conditions' like dropping in a toilet. Considering experts often point out how a lot of people's toilets have less germs/bacteria than their kitchen sinks, I'm not sure what that means exactly... Suppose it's up to you and what you feel comfortable with. Personally I think they're only trying to protect themselves...

Karen.

I agree with Karen on this one... I suspect they suggest to replace it in order to make sure they don't get sued if something ever happens. But in the same circumstances I, too, would be tempted to boil it and call it good. I believe Silicone is used to make a few other things that are exposed to similar germs and can be disinfected in boiling water...

I don't use a Diva, but would feel pretty comfortable with a good wash.  I'm not a big user of antibacterial things, but some anti-bac soap and hot water would probably do it for me.  Boiling would for sure.

Thanks guys.  You made me feel a lot better.  I am a recovering gremaphobe.  I had a preemie if that explains anything.  I had the second at term and was germaphobe and they both got sick.  So why bother.  We wash good.  So I have learned to be relaxed more.  But when this happened, I admit I freaked out.  So thanks for making me feel better.  I did boil it.  I will use it again.
