When I put my ten pound baby into her MEOS there is a lot of bulk and clothes don't seem to fit so well. Any suggestions?

For the look itself you'll probably get used to it. It seems really overwhelming at first but soon enough it'll just be normal and no big deal.

As for clothing; overalls, rompers and dresses are your friend! They typically have a lower crotch (or none at all) and that's where the real problem usually is. For sleepers and such, you can just get a size larger and roll the sleeves and/or cuffs... There's also the possibility of getting a couple small bamboo Sandy's. The small Sandy's are less bulky that the One-Size and the bamboo is the least bulky fabric... You could save them for outings or occasions when you want to use a cute outfit that wouldn't otherwise fit...

Karen.

it took me a while to get used to how big they looked when i first put my son in the diapers.  i use bamboo and they are definetly less bulky.  i use the organic cotton ones at night cause they fit better under pjs and sleepers.  my sons pants have to be a bit bigger but i put him in alot of one piece outfits and overalls.

Since you're talking about overalls... I remember reading that they fit well over cloth diapers, but I have an awful time trying to find some that work for my son. The crutch buttons always pop open from being too tight, and if I get bigger sizes they are so wide that it seems like you could fit another baby in there next to him... Well, with a little bit of exaggeration, maybe, but you see my point. Is it just that my son is too thin (he hasn't been weighed lately, but I think he's rather tall and thin for his age) or do I just have to go for bigger sizes and let him float in the overalls?

For what it's worth, we seem to have had better luck with pants that have buttons or a very elastic waist and we just roll up the cuffs.

I think it can all come down to build.  DS#1 couldn't wear anything with a waist for the first year.  CD bulk didn't help, but that was even with disposables!  Overalls worked great for him, but he wasn't tall, just round.  Once he got a little older, I did have problems with the snaps on some overalls and rompers.  I chalked it up to his build and the force that round bottom generated when he bent over, but had the same problems with my DS#2, small all the way around.  So I bought a snap press (about $20, I think, at Jo-Ann's; sew-on snaps do no good) and have put in additional snaps, fixing the problem.  If you're having this with everything, that might not be the magic for you, but it made a good handful of outfits useable for us.
The aforementioned small DS#2 has typically fit into everything, including waisted pants, even in the folded-down OS.  He didn't even look bulky as a newborn, maybe just because there wasn't much of him under that diaper?

Maybe I'm a hillbilly, but I never button the sides of my son's overalls. Like PP states, they just are too tight if buttoned or pop open even. So I haven't buttoned the sides of his overalls in like maybe a year? I might have tried it in his first month or two of life but gave up after a while.
I've always had good luck with most jeans or any pants that button & zip in front. My son recently got a few pairs of elastic waist pants for Xmas, and now I realize why I never buy those kind. Too hard to get stretch over his diaper!
You tend to avoid things that don't work easily. You'll find out that you just subconsiously choose clothing based on what works(or more importantly, what doesn't!). I don't really think about it, until I get "gifted" something that I avoid.

Hillbilly or not, you must live where it's warm! I can't imagine not buttoning my son's overalls if he's going to play outside :-) That's what prompted my question, actually: I tried on him some overalls that I got second hand (all of our son's clothes have been given to us, so I can't pick, and now all that fits is overalls unfortunately) and we were outside playing and the buttons kept popping open so it must have been quite breezy for him!

Oh. My son wears huggalugs(babylegs) under his clothes. But I can't read. I thought you meant the side buttons, not the pant leg button snaps. I do snap those shut. But I've noticed Old Navy/Gap snaps don't stay snapped very well. So like I said, avoidance is something I don't do consiously. But I do pass on it if it's from those 2 manufacturers(actually, they're the same).
