  Oil on Babies Bum (Rosemary)

Just wondering if anyone knows if using grapeseed oil, coconut oil or any other oil on babies bum would effect the diapers at all? I use oil all the time and haven't noticed anything wrong with my OS bamboo but it's only been 3 months. Does anyone else have any experience with this.
Thanks a bunch

I say if it's working for you then no need to change it. If a problem ever does occur you could look at that as a possible source but for now I wouldn't worry about it. If you have pocket diapers it might be a different story, but fitteds like the OS aren't nearly as sensitive to build-up and repelling...

I know lots of wipes solution recipes have various kinds of oils in it and they don't cause problems. But then the sheer quantity is probably pretty minimal in comparison...

Just curious why you're using the oil in the first place though? If it's just to prevent rash, usually it's not necessary to use anything at all. And if you're concerned about it building up in your diapers maybe you could use it only at night? Just a thought...

Karen.

I use Kissaluvs diaper wipes potion which has a combo of several oils, and I don't notice build-up on my dipes or wipes. I've been using it for about four months and I haven't noticed any build up or stink issues. When I first started using it, I was anticipating the mentioned factors, but it never took place. If it did however, I definitely would've anticipated the source of the issues.

Thanks for the info. I've been using oils at every diaper change because my son has been getting diaper rashes on and off (nothing serious) and I was using the oils to try to prevent it, but haven't noticed a difference. I started using corn starch only for the last few days and it seems to be helping a little but Ill have to wait and see what happens.

I used olive oil for the first few months with my son with xs sandies and OS-dry and there were no problems.  I used it to give his skin a little extra protection and because it really helps the poop slide right off.  I stopped when he was older and not pooping so much, not because of the diapers.

I use Happy Baby Rash Salve, it's olive oil and bee's wax based and it hasn't caused any probems with my dipes.
