My little guy is getting not-so-little, and fast! He is 11 months and almost 27lbs already (gulp! my poor back ). He is my first, so I'm not sure how to predict what we'll need. Since getting used Toddle-ease diapers seems a bit more rare, I was wondering whether I should start looking out for some, or if this is premature, since I might not need them? I have the Sandy's lg, which he still has a couple snaps left in (I'm pretty confident he will outgrow the ME one-size diapers we have), but we also have lots more time left in diapers. Any advice on the fit and sizing of the Toddle-ease would be appreciated, as well as mother's who might have insight on growth...will he thin out when he starts walking, or at least not keep this growth rate? I would prefer not to spend money where I don't need to, but I also want to be prepared (and look out for deals) if I can. Thanks for your tips and advice!!! It is greatly appreciated! |

my boy is a big-in, so I get where you're coming from. He will slow down, sure, he has to or else he'd be a 6' tall Kindergartener! But kiddos that do start out bigger tend to stay on the bigger side. They seem to stay within that same percentile or close to it, as they grow. That being said, that second year of life(13-24 months), typical weight gained is only between 2-4lbs for the whole year. So for yours to still be on the bigger side, figure maybe closer to 4. That's still well below him outgrowing Sandy's. We needed to move up to the Toddle-ease for over nights simply because he needs 3 liners for overnight absorbency. But I'd never have him wear them for day. I don't think they'd stay up if wet. Too loose. Maybe just keep an eye open for them. If you have a late PT kiddo or delayed over night dryness for your daytime dry PT, you *might* need toddle-ease just because you've got a bigger dude and he's older PT. But those are all big IFs. Just wait & see. You'll have some time to get some even if you wait until he's on the last snaps on your Sandy's. Because those stretch, I have a feeling those will fit longer. Just long enough to PT perhaps! |

I, too, started looked at TE when my son seemed determined to challenge the weight charts, but I didn't end up needing them. He was around 29 lbs at a year, but gained only 4 more lbs in the next year. For a while I was fastening our OS on the very outside snap if we had a liner in there, but he was actually able to wear them until he PTed, at about 34 lbs. His L Sandys with a liner still fit fine until he was night dry a few months later. I agree with the PP that although it's possible that you will want a few TE for nights if this takes a while, or if PT is pretty late, chances are that you won't need to replace your stash. I'd sit tight and see what the next year or so holds for your chunk. Diaper fit can depend so much on babe's build, too. Just for what it's worth, ME sells extender tabs for the OS, in case that become relevant someday. |
