  Help!! Bamboo or cotton??? (annylynn)

okay, so i've made the decision to switch to cloth (at home to start with!) But i'm soooo torn about whether i should go for Bamboo or Cotton. What i'm really wanting is the trimmer fit of the bamboo but i want it to last and i didn't know if they would last as long as Cotton ones. Can anyone help?????  I have very chubby babies and the cloth diaper makes them look a little funny so the trimmer fit i can get the better but i don't want to waste money only to have to buy new ones for the next child or not be able to pass them on afterwards.

I love bamboo. They feel great & look great. Apparently you need to watch what you use on them as far as stain removal or washing(no bleach, no oxyclean). To be honest, my bamboo doesn't seem to stain as easily as my cotton did. But I soak & soak & soak my dipes in plain tap water(for days, if necessary)if they look like they might get stains prior to washing. And the sun does a great job also. So in my opinion, you shouldn't need any stain remover chemicals anyway. But that's my opinion. I'm miss au nat ur ale.
Cotton ME are virtually bulletproof. If you're gonna have a mess of kids, then those are field tested to last & last. Bamboo just hasn't been around long enough to know that part.
Again, I love my bamboo. Haven't regretted it one bit. Would(and have) ordered more in bamboo without a second thought.
Oh yeah, welcome to the wonderful world of cloth! We're glad to have another sister here.
Cheers!

Why not a mix?  You could use the bamboo for times when you have certain clothes that need a trimmer fit and maybe cotton for around the house and at night?  I have all unbleached cotton right now and love them but I'm also itching for some bamboo so I ordered a Sandy's to see what all the hype was about lol!  I hope it comes today!

Ya i think that maybe a mix might be the answer!! I have two cotton diapers already. One is a OS and the other is a Sandy's. I have to say that i don't like the Sandy's at all! It doesn't fit my daughter as well on the legs. It has the little frill thingys that come down farther than the OS and that pushes the cover down farther and digs into my daughters legs..it happens on her tummy too when she wears it but that doesn't happen at all with the OS.

One note of caution regarding bamboo... they are softer and trimmer, but while I read that they took longer to dry before purchasing, I did not realize HOW long.  My bamboo diapers took 48 hours to dry (hanging) the first time I washed them.  Apparently this does get better withtime, but you'd still be looking about a day drying time in some cases.  If I were to do it again (and my baby is not even born yet!), I would have gone with a mix of cotton and bamboo.

thanks for the input..yes 2 days is a little much to wait for diapers to dry but one day isn't too bad i suppose...so i suppose having at least a few cotton would be handy if i need some to dry faster!
