I just recently switched to cloth and love the idea of them. I got some bamboo and some stay dry cotton..i love the feel of them but can't stand the million snaps to do up every diaper change!! I find the snaps leave some red marks when my girls sleep in them (since they like to sleep on their sides)The air flow cover seems to leave red marks even when i leave it really loose???? I really want to make this work, i don't want to go back to disposables and i don't really want to spend a fortune since i just spent a couple hundred dollars with ME. All of my friends use ME and love them. Now sure if maybe there's another wrap i could try? I don't think we have anything available locally and i'd have to order everything online without seeing it so i'm rather hesitant. Not sure what to do?

Well, the snaps do take some getting used to. And that's really all I can say as incouragement. You'll get faster and it won't bother you at all eventually.
The pressure marks from the snaps are just like sheet marks on your face after you get up from sleeping. They don't hurt but they look awful! I wouldn't worry about it unless you have marks all the way around, then the dipes are too tight and an adjustment might be necessary.
I know you said the covers are loose, but how loose? Like posie loose? Because we get used to the way posies look but cloth works differently. The cloth diaper should be snug but not tight. Just snug enough to keep it on but not pinch skin or leave red marks. When my son was a NB, there was about a finger width gap in each leg and he never leaked. So even a gap between skin & dipe is fine.
The cover is just there to prevent wicking onto clothes & objects. The diaper does the "dirty work" the cover just protects pants, like a barrier fence. It doesn't even need to be snug. My son's covers have about a finger width gap in the legs & waist at all times and he never leaks. He got red marks to at first, but it was me learning a new way of diapering. You figure out your own way. That's the beauty of it all.
Keep experimenting. Find what works, what doesn't.

I know what you mean about the snaps. When my daughter was born, I was ready to switch to the ricki wrap because of the velcro being easier than the snaps. But she's 3 months now, and I realized while I was changing her diaper today that the snaps take seconds to do. It's like everything with a new baby, like getting the dressed, feeding them, putting them in the car seat, it all takes a lot of time, but in a few weeks you'll wonder how it used to take so long.
My daughter also has the red marks, but they bother me more than her. I snap the covers so they don't leave any gaps (she's still tiny) and they do leave marks, but like the other poster said, they're like the lines you get from sleeping on a wrinkled sheet, or from your socks. They really aren't that bad.
Stick with it, in a few weeks it will all be totally normal and you'll wonder how you ever got along without your cloth!

I don't generally see any red marks on my boy, either from the snaps or the cover. Maybe some babes just mark easier than others? I agree with the PP who says you don't really need the diapers to be tight.
You could try the Rikki cover, since it uses velcro and thus eliminates four snaps for you. I do think you just get used to doing the snaps; you know which ones you need and click click click click, it's done, without even really thinking about it anymore. There's a bit of a learning curve with cloth before it becomes autopilot, but it does very soon. My DH would actually balk at changing our DSs when they were in disposables for air travel because he found disposables too daunting; he learned how to do diapers with ME and liked having set positions that he knew were right, so disposables were outside the comfort zone and he'd wonder if he got the diaper too loose, too tight, etc. Just what you get used to!

I'm sure i will get used to the snaps?!? I'm starting to get used the gigantic behind which was a little overwhelming at first! She's 10 months old and doesn't hold still for even a second. I called a friend yesterday that uses ME dipes and she recomended keeping the covers or diapers presnapped and then just pull them on while they are standing and that can sometimes help. She's also a little annoyed with the more frequent diaper changes!! Before she could get a few pees out of a diaper but with the cloth i know she feels wet and like to change her as soon as i noticed she's peed. My friend also said that she doesn't even use a cover when at home..does anyone else do this. I know another lady who does the same thing? Is it just because my diapers are so new that i can't do this? It just goes right through and wets everything! I found yesterday that if i put a liner then i could pretty well go coverless since it might only be slightly damp and that wasn't too bad. I think i'll play around with making a few more diapers myself to really see what i like for her and then go from there!

From my experience, the diaper always gets wet right through as soon as your baby pees in it. It's easier to go coverless when they're newborns or don't crawl yet, since you can put them down on a waterproof pad (or even just a sheet or blanket that you can wash) and then it doesn't matter if some wetness transfers. But once they get moving it's a bit more tricky. One thing I do is put my son in some polyester fleece pants over the diaper (with no cover). They don't wick the moisture so the wetness won't transfer to the high chair, the couch or your lap :-) The diapers do get more absorbent with time, but I didn't find that it made a difference in that regard. You can more easily go cover-less in the house if you have hardwood floors and you don't mind wiping up a few moist spots, but I have carpet so I really can't do that.

As for your DD not holding still, I had the same problem with my son and sometimes had to force him down to change a diaper. He still doesn't love to get changed, but it got a bit better with time, and we found ways to distract him long enough to be able to do it without tears.

Good luck!

I personally prefer bummis polar wraps they are soft and they just velcro, because after snapping dipes, I just dont feel like snapping cover. I normally dont use cover, (I think its best for breathableness) regardless of babies age, just for going out or sleeping, i also prefer bulk of sandy dipes to one size except for traveling (can't fit as many sandies in diaper bag as os)

I can relate with you on all the snapping! Here is what I do to keep my cloth diaper routine as simple as possible:

If I'm using a Sandy's diaper (I use xsmalls when my babies are newborns, then switch to AIO when they grow out of those) I use the Rikki Wraps vs. the Airflow covers. These fit SO much better on my babies. I had trouble with the red marks on my baby's waist and legs with the Airflows, too.

I currently have 2 in diapers (one is being potty trained though, thank the Lord!) and I decided a long time ago to switch over to AIO's. I was just too frustrated with all the "layers" of diapering involved with the fitted diapers and covers.

I've tried several other diaper brands and the only ones I've stuck with are Mother-ease and and the Fuzzi Buns One Size AIO. I do have a few Happy Heinies that I use (these were given to me when our son was born); they are a velcro closure AIO diaper and, although they're quicker to put on, they snag really easily in the washer and don't hold up as well. Snaps take a little longer to use but seem to be a lot more durable. Snaps also keep older babies from being able to remove their diapers whenever they want. (I had this problem a lot when we were using Kushies with our daughter last year.)

Best wishes with your cloth diapering!! Don't give up, it is definitely worth the extra work and occassional hassle. Now that I've been into cloth for several years I am glad I stayed with it and found a system that fits our family well. Kristy @ Homemaker's Cottage

although fuzzybunz have snaps and are supposed to be all in one, I prefer to use them as a cover with a prefold
