I am giving the diapers free for shipping to the person who was going to buy them for $60 USD. Obviously I could use that money we all could. I cannot sell them like this but they do have life left in them, it would be a shame to throw them out. I do not think it is fair to absolve yourself from any responsibility for your product with the phrases "chemical reaction" or "harsh chemicals". What does this mean, and how do we avoid the problem again. Who in their right mind would buy more diapers without knowing how to prevent the problem from reaccuring. I don't think Mother-ease gets that, or they just don't care about having me as a customer. At any rate good luck to all of you I hope your diapers stay fluffy, soft and fresh smelling. Cheers! |

I suggest you make this post in the "buy or sell" forum
BTW, although I love my ME diapers, (I have spared no expense trying to find the best diapering system for my family, and the best made diapers are imo, are the ME) and I even love my 10 year old MEs that have been on 7 different baby butts in all those years, so they definately don't look new, and have some balding, because they still have great stitching and snaps and are absorbant where they need to be. I just wanted to say, that if I was in your shoes, I too, would have wanted my money back if after 6 months they went bald with me following the ME guidelines for care. (and I wasn't warned about how bamboo must not be washed with borax.) I was thinking about bamboo, but after a few stories about how they don't hold up as well, I am glad I didn't get them. |

Just so that this doesn't start something unfounded, no one ever said that you shouldn't wash your diapers, cotton or bamboo, in borax. I simply linked that article (which I'm almost regretting now if everyone is going to freak out about borax, that wasn't my intention) to make a point that *maybe* borax *could possibly* be an issue since it converts some water molecules to hydrogen peroxide. I was only trying to give a possible alternative to the idea put forth that either Daisycat is lying or that bamboo is a 'bad' fabric. My point was just that there are LOTS of explanations in the middle there and that we probably never will know exactly what the cause was.
I have absolutly no idea how *many* molecules are converted and if it's enough to cause any damage. I should also point out that many many websites disagree with ME's assertion that oxygen type bleaches (that form hydrogen peroxide) are dangerous for fibers. Many websites recomend very liberal and frequent use of the stuff (and make no exceptions for natural fibers - which is what most diapers are made from) so it's not a clearcut thing that it's risky.
And also, IF it is an issue, it would likely apply to cotton diapers as well since ME has warned against using hydrogen peroxide on ALL "natural fibers", not just bamboo. Some people have theorized that *perhaps* bamboo might be more vulnerable to such chemicals, but we have no actual evidence of that. I repeat, these types of mysterious occurings have happened with cotton at least twice in my own memory of posts on the board. Far as I know, no explanation was ever found in those cases either.
I'm sorry if I'm becoming annoying, but I really want to make sure this doesn't start spreading some rumour that people shouldn't use borax on bamboo. These kinds of things spread like wildfire on the internet and I would hate to have started such an unfounded & speculative rumour.

| I hear you Karen, I think after a while (a short while, sometimes) my brain condenses what it's read on the forum (probably how unfounded info gets spread like wildfire) I didn't re-read the post about borax or all the posts on bamboo. I own bamboo socks and they are lasting well, even though I dont take special care of them and I love how soft they are, that is why I was thinking about bamboo for this baby. Back when I started motherease they didn't have any option except white or unbleached. I don't need more diapers but I somehow got into buying them again, I guess to help my sister out. |

Wasn't just you imamom4sure, I was posting to the whole board really because others have also jumped on the idea as well. Just wanted to make sure no one reading assumed this was a proven fact or anything kwim? And especially to make sure that no one then took this to other boards or whatever...

| It is a shame that this whole mess didn't work out the way anyone wanted. I doubt anyone feels "great" about this whole thing. |

| Could you please advise of your washing routine on the "Attention.." thread? I am trying to gather everyone's info in one area so ME can trouble shoot the problem. If it's all written down in one spot, there might be a factor or element in this issue that they haven't noticed before. Please help daisycat. |
