What kind of diaper pail? (bluesaddle)

I was wondering what kind of diaper pail you gals recommend for cloth diapering? I see that motherease sells one, seen a lot at stores and have also heard that a 10 gallon pail works just as well. Any input would be great!

I personally don't  recommend a pail.  to prevent concentrated urine in rinse water, I wash my diapers with my regular laundry, and therefore I put the diapers in the hamper as I would had the the diaper just been clothing with an accident, I understand that I don't have much issues with poop, since the only time prolific is during newborn stage which my kids breastfed poop isn't a problem, it only frequent but not profuse and rarely even needs to be rinse, and as my kids get older they poop less and less, between 1-3 a day. and when they are on solids the poop just peals away into the toilet.  I know every kid is different and some people have big time poopers, but I have asked friends and family and they all have kids that poop no more than twice a day, once seems to be the norm.  but if I had a kid that had poop issue, then I would just keep poopy diapers separate from the regular wash. I would dry pail  it with lots of baking soda. and wash with items I am more comfortable washing rinsed out poop diapers with. but truly, my family never has to separate diapers.

The advantage is less diapers per load, so less concentrated with urine, rinse water, and more frequent diaper washing, no diaper needs a full day to be washed, and I never run out of diapers.

I am only 13 days into this with a newborn... but i placed a over-the-door hook on the back of the bedroom door and hang just the PUL pail liner from it (elastic opening and hangable-i think it's Bummis?) I dont have any issues with smells yet. I wash about every day though, cause I only have 12 Sandys and they are my favorite. It's super easy!

Although you have to decide what you'd like to do, if you use a pail, in general anything with a tight-fitting lid is great. If you decide you want to let your diapers breathe, as some people do, I guess the lid isn't so crucial.  If, however, you use a wet pail, you need a lid that will keep toddlers out (and if you have my sons, you need a lid to keep dirty diapers from being strewn about as decorations!).  I have smaller pails I got in the UK, which I like because I keep one in DS's room for wets and one in the bathroom where I deal with dirties.  But I've also used a 28-lb kitty-litter pail with lid.  People use garbage cans with pedals, 5-gallon paint pails, storage tubs, etc.  No hard and fast rules.  I would consider what kind of washing machine you have and how you plan to get the diapers into the washer and go from there.  If you have a front-loader, a large, rectangular storage tub probably isn't your ideal.  If you use a garbage can, you're probably going to want some sort of liner/bag, since depending on size it might not be the easiest to lift and dump the can itself.  I like having smaller pails, and I use mesh bags, so I just kind of lift those out of the pails and push them inside out into the washer, minimizing contact with the diapers.  I could, however, just put the pails in and dump them out, too, just got used to the liners with my UK front-loader that was too small to fit the whole pail in to dump.
